Marilyn Mitchell

The following is an obituary written by Marilyn's loving family.

Marilyn Bailey Mitchell, 84 of Pittsboro, Indiana, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2023.   Marilyn was born in Whitestown, Indiana on December 7, 1938, to Clarence and Ruby (Woodard) Bailey.  On June 10, 1956, she married the love of her life, Myron Mitchell.  She was a graduate of Pittsboro High School, class of 1956, and a loving and dedicated homemaker.  She had a wide variety of interests including sewing, knitting, embroidery, crochet, tatting, quilting, tole painting, ceramics, and gardening including canning and freezing what she grew. While not an avid professional sports fan, she enjoyed rooting for the Lady Volunteers of Tennessee in her later years and for many years she and Myron bowled in a local league.  She was a member of the Pittsboro Disciples of Christ Christian Church at the time of her passing and sang in the choir there for many years. She also sang in the Melody Makers of Indiana, Hendricks County Treblemakers Group, a community choir. In addition, she was a long-time member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority and enjoyed participating in their many community activities. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society for several years.  After many years as an executive secretary in several organizations, she retired in February, 1987, to become a full-time homemaker and grandmother.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Walter, Lowell, and Richard; and an
infant sister.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Myron; daughter, Phyllis (Wayne) Cooper; son, Dennis (Ronda) Mitchell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Lawrence.

Friends and family will gather at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, Indiana, on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial
will be at the K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority, in loving memory of Marilyn.
