Lowell Pruett Obituary

The following is a life story provided by Lowell’s loving family.

Lowell James Pruett of Indianapolis passed away at age 77 on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Wellbrooke Rehabilitation of Avon following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Lola Jane (Pruett) Levingston.

Lowell was born on April 3, 1946 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late Henerson Phillip Allen and Ida Caroline (Minnich) Allen. Lowell was a 1964 graduate of Ben Davis High School.

Lowell is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dawn A. (Cross-Bryan) Pruett; one daughter, Sherri Lynn (Thomas) Curl; one son, H. Allen (Heather) Pruett; five grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole, William Colby, Brianna Aileen, Nathanael M. Allen, and Liberty Esther; and three great-grandchildren, W. Jaxon, Scarlett E., and Juniper J.

Lowell served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Lowell was a lifetime member of IVFA (IN Volunteer Firefighters Association), Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department and Tailboard Rider’s Assoc. of the Wayne Township Fire Department, served as Deputy State Fire Marshal for Indiana and retired as Fire Marshal of the Brownsburg Fire Territory. Lowell was a member of Your Venture Church of Lizton as well as several benevolent organizations including the distinction of Sir Knight of the Golden Spur, Knights of Pythias, Past Chancellor Lizton Lodge #342, Knights of Pythias, American Legion Post #145, Avon. Lowell proudly served as a “Green Skittle” for Indy Honor Flight Plainfield, IN.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, at Eric MD Bell Funeral Home, 220 N Maple Street, Pittsboro, IN, 46167. Calling will be from 2-4 p.m. Knights of Pythias services will be held at 3:45 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Honor Guard services will be held at the conclusion of the services on Monday. Burial will be Tuesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, IN, 47250.
