Linda Ash Obituary

Linda Elliott Ash, 53 of rural Pittsboro, passed away peacefully at her home in the early hours of September 24, 2020.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born and raised in Bridgeport, West Virginia.  She graduated from Marshall University. After college, Linda traveled around the country living in North Carolina, California, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota before moving to Pittsboro, Indiana.

Linda has always been an active community member. From the moment her family moved to the Pittsboro area, Linda quickly became a community leader and helped organize several school activities such as the school carnival. Linda would soon become involved with multiple community-related activities, including Kiwanis, Parent Pride Group and the soccer program.  Linda was active in PTA and had a knack for convincing people to get involved within their community.  No one could say no to Linda -- from the PTA to board positions in town.  If a volunteer was needed, Linda found them. Linda had a passion for parks and green spaces.  She volunteered to help maintain the elementary school nature center and served the Pittsboro Park Board with pride. As administrator for the Pittsboro Police Department and employee to the Town of Pittsboro, Linda was the event coordinator for such events as National Night Out and Christmas in the Park.  As a Master Gardener, Linda wanted people to have access to locally grown fresh food and helped found the Pittsboro Farmers Market. The market continues today and just celebrated its 11th year.   Linda has been a loyal friend to many and was very well-respected throughout the community. Linda will be truly missed, but her devotion to the common good for all people will live on.

Linda was an amazing human being.  Everyone who has known her is grateful for her in their lives.  Not only did Linda understand the importance of being a good community member, but she knew how to be a good friend and deeply valued every friendship.  Linda greeted everyone with a smile and was truly engaged in what was going on with someone and how she could help or simply listen.  She was a caring and devoted sister, aunt and daughter.  But what Linda was most passionate about were her children, her 16-year-old daughter Kayla and her 20-year-old son Dawson.  She lived for the two of them, and they filled her heart.  She passed knowing she raised two wonderful, kind, smart and loving people, and they will carry their mother with them always.

Linda is survived by her children Kayla Elliott Ash and Dawson Elliott Ash, her father Cornelious “Bob” Elliott, her sisters Cherry Callison, Peggy Malanosky and her husband Marty Malanosky who all live in West Virginia, and her sister Donna Elliott who lives in North Carolina, as well as nephews Seth Callison, Thad Callison and his wife Becca Callison, and niece Chelsea Elliott and great niece Scarlett Callison who all also live in West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family would deeply appreciate donations be made to Love for Linda, for the benefit of her beloved children, a link to the Facebook page is listed below.
