Larry Burger, 75 of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away in his home on July 13, 2023. Larry was born on July 30, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Herman and Ruth (Rea) Burger, and grew up in Coal City, Indiana. On November 9, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Randy Sue Salyers. He faithfully served his country in Vietnam. He served in the Army and received the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Sharpshooter (rifle) Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars (Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert (M-60 MG). Larry retired from Allison Transmission after a successful career of 47 years, and he was a member of UAW Local 933. He enjoyed fishing and watching his granddaughters show animals in the 4-H activities. He raised beef cattle and loved sports, especially IU Basketball!
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wayne; two nieces; and a brother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Randy Sue; a son, Kevin (Rebecca); two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ty) and Abigail; a sister, Lavonne; a brother, Darrell (Laura); and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will gather at Connection Pointe Christian Church on July 24, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the memorial service with military honors beginning at 1:00 pm.
A burial will take place at a later date in Larry's hometown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connection Pointe Christian Church, Jamestown Christian Church, The American Legion/VFW, or your favorite charity.
