Obituary

Judith “Judy” Kay Parker, 72 of Pittsboro, Indiana, peacefully passed away in her home on February 2, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.  Judy was born on December 1, 1950, in Lebanon, Indiana to Lester and Doris (McKee) Monnett.  She attended Pittsboro High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1968. On August 3, 1974, she married the love of her life, Marvin Oscar Parker, and they were married for 41 years.  She truly enjoyed her career as the secretary for Pittsboro Christian Church, a position she served for more than 35 years. Judy was known for her joyful laugh, her ability to find humor in any situation, and how she never met a stranger.  For her, Christmas decorating began in August, and her jolly, loving, bright spirit shone year-round.   In her younger years, she enjoyed planning and hosting social gatherings, supporting her kids in youth sports and extracurricular activities, spending time with her Happy Homemakers Club, and attending various arts and crafts fairs with her best friends. In her older years, she found a new interest and competed in several walking
4-5k events, and regularly updated us on new walking paths she discovered around town. Any trip around central Indiana was a good one in her opinion, whether it be going to a play at the high school, finding a new restaurant or shop that had opened up, or having another visit and meal with her High School Lunch Bunch. Judy’s greatest joy happened when she became “Mimi” to 2 grandchildren, and her love radiated with each word, kiss, hug, and playtime she shared with them.

Judy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Parker; brother, Leon Monnett; and parents, Lester and Doris (McKee) Monnett.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Scott) Hiett and Kelly Parker; son, Kevin (Abbey) Parker; grandchildren, Natalie and Leo; brothers, Rick (Kathy) Land, Randy Monnett, and Johnny (Cindy) Monnett; sister, Janet Higinbotham; sister-in-law, Charlotte Monnett; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.

Friends and family will gather at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 2pm to 7pm.  A funeral service will be held for Judy the following day at Pittsboro Christian Church on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 10am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pittsboro Christian Church.
