Henry Hinkle Obituary

Henry Nolan Hinkle, 91 of Lebanon and Indianapolis, passed on to join his lovely wife in Heaven on September 17, 2021, at Witham Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Henry was born on May 3, 1930, the son of Herman and Clara Hinkle.  He married Gladys Davis on October 17, 1954.  They had 62 fabulous years before she passed in 2016.  Henry and Gladys had seven children, 14 grandkids, 42 great-grandkids, and six great-great grandkids.

He joined the Navy right out of high school.  Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he married Gladys in Prosser, Washington.  The newlyweds traveled across the country to settle in Indianapolis to start their family.  He worked as a salesman for Fuller Brush Company until he found permanent employment with Ford Motor Company for 30 years.  After retiring, he and Gladys would travel and enjoy grandkids and family.

Henry is survived by his brothers and sister, Don Hinkle of Catlin, Illinois, Rosie Huddlestun of Joliet, Illinois, Ken Hinkle (wife Ruth) of Collinsville, Illiniois; his sons, Nolan Leroy Hinkle and Philip Joseph Hinkle, Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; his daughters, Daisy Benedict (Curt Jaite) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Darlynda Klingele (husband Troy) of Mount Lake Terrace, Washington, Deanna Garand (husband Mark) of Lebanon, Indiana, and Danita Cichecki (husband Ted) of Colfax, Illinois; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Gladys; his son, Charles Hinkle; his sisters, Lelia, Ruth, and Lorene; his bothers, Rex, Grendle Dean, and George; and his daughters-in-law, Elizabeth and Marquetta.

He was a member of Traders Point Church of Christ in Indianapolis, Indiana and of United Auto Workers (UAW).  He was an awesome husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved to do leatherwork, which he would sell to help provide for his large family and would mow yards to care for his family as well.  He loved his family and going to family reunions, as well as fishing and camping.  Everyone who met him loved him.

Henry will be great missed by many, many people.
