Helen Louise Herring

Helen Louise Herring, 90 of Pittsboro, Indiana, peacefully passed away on February 17, 2021. 

Helen was born February 27, 1930 in Lebanon, Indiana to Edith (Coleman) Randall and Herschell Servies.

Mrs. Herring lived most of her life in Pittsboro, Indiana. She was a proud graduate of Pittsboro High School in 1948. For over 40 Years she and her husband owned and operated Frank and Mary’s Restaurant in Pittsboro. Together they enjoyed travel every winter to Treasure Island, Florida and many weekends fishing on a pontoon boat at Racoon Lake. They enjoyed music and were fans of local musicians throughout their years together including and especially Daniel O’Donnell. Helen also enjoyed travel with many friends over the years. She particularly enjoyed trips to Scotland, France, and the Canadian Rockies. She loved to shop! She had so many close and wonderful friends over the years who took her to restaurants, traveled with her, and were great companions. She has suffered the loss of her friends greatly over the past several years.

Helen’s family would especially like to thank the tireless energy and support Helen received from the staff of Brownsburg Meadow’s Assisted Living. They are grateful that, while she was still able, someone danced with her.

Survivors include her son, Larry (wife Donna) Herring; daughter, Theresa (husband Lucian) Cooksey; brothers, J.R. (wife Kathy) Servies and Ed (wife Jane) Randall; sister, Cindi Armstrong; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Herring; son, Thomas Herring; daughter-in-law, Sophie Herring; brother, Gene Servies, and sister, Shirley Shelton.

Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm.  Helen will be laid to rest following the service at K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pittsboro Christian Church or Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
