Esther "Joni" Pounds

The following is an obituary written by Joni's loving family.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, Esther “Joni” Pounds, loving wife, mother, and sister left us at the age of 77 in Houston, Texas. She was surrounded by loving family members at the time of her passing. Joni and Michael Pounds were married in 1963. She is survived by her husband Michael, sister Sarah, and three sons Greg and his wife Paula, Steve and his wife Dinica, John and his wife Elizabeth, as well as, her niece April and her husband Nick. She adored her grandchildren Toni and husband Zac, James and his wife Casey, Faith Michael, Michael and Natalie, as well as, April and Nick's children Levi, Colton, and Remington. She took great joy in her great-grandchildren Rhya, Kyler, Broc, Haley, Carly, Abby, Hunter, Cooper, and Emma. She was predeceased by her father John, mother Lorraine, and brother Sam. Joni not only kept a happy home but moved it across the world when Michael's work took their family to seven different countries. She was also a Civil Servant supporting the IRS and the military, earning many awards and recognition in her long career. This amazing woman enjoyed traveling the world, had a passion for piano and loved to garden. Joni never met a stranger and everyone that knew her absolutely loved her!

A Celebration of Life for Joni will be held on April 15th from 11am to 1pm at Eric MD Bell Funeral Home located at 220 N. Main Street, Pittsboro, Indiana 46167. Family and friends are welcome.
