Edward Shelton Obituary

Edward Allen Shelton, 85, of Roachdale, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at home with his loving family by his side.

“Lil Eddie” was born March 4th, 1935 in Arlington County, Missouri to a large family. Growing up, he was one of eight children and despite his mother’s best attempts to get him into his sisters’ socks, Lil Eddie never succumbed to the pressure and lead a long, happy, and successful life.

He attended school in Pittsfield, Illinois where he played on an undefeated State football team. Later, he married his beautiful wife Deloris on October 16th, 1954 and on their 65th wedding anniversary, they took their family to the same restaurant they once visited early in their marriage. Ed also joined the Army, where he served in Germany during peacetime. Afterwards, he worked at GM Allison’s in computer operations and upon retiring in 1995, he began farming full time. Other hobbies included traveling with Deloris, fishing, and studying the Civil War. But above all, his face shone brightest when visiting and playing with his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. At one point or another, all grandchildren imagined riding a horse as they bounced up and down on his leg with grandpa exclaiming,  “Alright Paint, let’s get where we ain’t!” He was such an incredible, fun, and loving grandpa!

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, son Brian, and grandson Ryan. Survivors include his wife Deloris, son Brad (wife Lorrie), daughter-in-law Kim, granddaughter Heather (husband Kurt Hare and their three children Caleb, Ryan, Annie), grandson Zach, granddaughter Adrianna, granddaughter Alex, grandson Kyle, and dear family friend Jamie Hoover.
