Dale Truax

The following is an obituary written by Dale's loving family.

Dale Truax, 56 of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2023, at home.  Dale, son of the late Donnie and Sheryl (Neese) Truax, was born on January 15, 1967 in Danville, Indiana.  

After birth in Indiana Dale moved around often as he grew up in a military family. Dale graduated from O’Fallon, IL; but his favorite school years were spent in Altus, OK. Dale was an excellent baseball player throughout these years and always dreamt of playing in the MLB. 

He worked many jobs throughout his life, starting a career as a mechanic. Eventually he joined the union and worked as an ironworker for Local 22. While working in the Union Dale accomplished the official apprenticeship qualifications and obtained a Journeyman License.  He was skilled in ironworking. Though Dale enjoyed ironworking, he eventually transferred into working at UPS where he worked until the time of his death. Dale enjoyed sports, fishing, hiking, working on vehicles, and spending his time with family. Dale was very loved by his family, especially his grandchildren Adalynn and Kaydence Hirst, who refer to him as “Pops”. Dale’s upbeat and positive personality could always improve the mood of a room. His humor and laugh were contagious, and he would always greet the family with a big “bear hug”. 

Dale is preceded in death by his mother, Sheryl (Neese) Truax/McKinnis; his father, Donnie Truax Jr.; stepfather, Wayne McKinnis; grandparents, Don Truax Sr., Katherine (Snyder) Truax, and Clyde Neese.  

He is survived by his children, Dustin Truax and wife Angela, Alexis (Truax) Hirst and husband Jace, Kyle Smith and Kelsey Truax; sister, Tammra (Truax) Thornton and husband Mike of Lawton, OK, and brother, Brandon Truax of Indianapolis, IN. Along with the aforementioned, Dale is survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

On Saturday, 08 April 2023, there will be a celebration of Dale's life held at Scamahorn Park in Pittsboro, IN. The celebration will take place at the scout building between 1:00 - 4:00 PM with a service held at 2:00 PM.
