Benny Mitchell Obituary

Benny Allen Mitchell, 74, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away December 8, 2021.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 23, 1947, to Ada Virginia Magness and Henry Lee Mitchell.  Ben graduated from Whiteland High School in 1965.  Ben married his high school sweetheart, Diana Kay Inabnitt.  Together they had three sons, Ben, Eric and Toby.

Besides excelling in sports Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.  He loved to travel and went on 18 cruises as well as travelled the Western part of the United States and rode his bike in Sturgis during Bike Week.   Ben played with the Beech Grove Redskins in the National Amateur Football League and his adventurous spirit led him to try out for the Georgia Falcons Semi Pro Football Team.   He had a love for the outdoors, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, driving his Corvette, taking his boat out on Racoon Lake and camping in the state parks. He enjoyed the time he spent in his vacation home in Venice, Florida.  Ben was known for his stories and telling jokes and was happy when he could entertain others.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and loyal friend.

Ben worked for Allison General Motors, Ball Mason and Redfield in Denver, Colorado.  Ben spent several years working for Sycamore Services in Danville, Indiana where he met his current wife and love of his life, Debbie, and became stepdad to two daughters, Nicole and Amanda.  Wanting to be his own boss, he left Sycamore to start his own business, B & A Construction. Ben built room additions and garages as well as other types of remodeling.  He was known for his quality work.  Later Ben worked at Novatech from where he retired in 2014.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Henry Mitchell; sister, Patsy Hasty; brother, James Mitchell; and sons, Eric and Tobias Mitchell.

Ben is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son Ben II (C.J.) and daughter-in-law Angelia Mitchell; stepdaughters, Nicole Bixler (Phil DeSanti) and Amanda Bixler (Chris Nevels); grandchildren, Austin Mitchell, Riley Mitchell and Oscar Bixler-Nevels; sisters, Norma Sickles (Jim) and Claudia Albertson (Duane); nieces, Teresa Hasty (Sherry) and Krisda Strom (Jason); nephews, Scott Hasty (Tamatha) and Jim Sickles II (Rebecca); brother-in-law, Homer Hasty; and several great-nieces and nephews.
