The following is an obituary written by Terry's loving family.
Terrel “Terry” Bruce Wilson, Jr, 54, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2025. Terry was born on June 15, 1971, to Terrel Sr. and Anna Wilson. He grew up in Pittsboro, IN where he started farming at age 5. He helped build the family farm, plowing, planting and harvesting row crops; raising livestock; and handling every aspect of the hay baling business that he started with his dad. Terry also inherited his father’s love for all things FORD and became a master mechanic, learning everything about engines as well as autobody. He graduated from Tri-West High school in 1990.
Terry was known for his sarcasm and sense of humor. He went on to join Local Union 103 as an operating engineer for Milestone and Miller Pipeline before starting his own successful drywall business (Dr. Drywall) in the late 90’s. He was also a devoted Christian and a member of The Church of Christ. Terry’s passion and heart belonged to the racetrack. He was considered a professional drag racer and achieved many wins and awards in his 1995 Ford Mustang “Big Black”. During his time in the race community, he made hundreds of friends, many of whom he considered family. Terry had a tough exterior but a very tender heart. He was loyal, giving, funny, hardworking, determined, smart, and passionate about what he loved and believed in. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
Survivors include his sisters, Karen Lester (Mike) and Ginny Clark (Kevin); brother, Steve Wilson (Alisa); nine nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and -nephews; his beloved dogs, Oscar and Dexter; a young man he considered a son, Jay Van Lue (Bailey); and many many friends who he called family.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Terrel Sr. and Anna Wilson; and niece, Taylor Cook.
Friends and family will gather at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home for visitation on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11 am to 2 pm, with the celebration of Terry's life beginning at 2 pm.
Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hendricks County.
All are encouraged to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
