Ted “Billbob” Love

July 12, 1949 – January 1, 2026

Ted Love—affectionately known to many as “Billbob”—passed away on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, service, and a life lived outdoors. Born on July 12, 1949, in Indianapolis, Ted was raised in Speedway, where his lifelong bond with nature began. As a young man, he spent countless days hunting and fishing at Eagle Creek, was a powerhouse on the Westwood Swim Team, and discovered a thrill for motorcycles—starting with motocross and eventually hitting the road on his first street-legal bike, a BSA 500.

In June of 1969, Ted was drafted into the United States Army. He served with the 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War, stationed at Fort Lewis. For his bravery and sacrifice in combat, Ted was awarded the Purple Heart. While he rarely spoke of the honor, it stood as a testament to his devotion to the soldiers at his side. He continued his fellowship with veterans throughout his life as a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Following his service, Ted built a career of hard work and craftsmanship. He spent many years as a skilled sheet metal worker for Campbell Ventilation, where his "tough as nails" work ethic was always on display.

In 1977, Ted welcomed his daughter, Brooke, into the world. In 1985, he married Jill and together, they made their home in North Salem, Indiana, building a life rooted in loyalty and shared memories.

Fishing remained the heartbeat of Ted’s world—specifically the pursuit of crappie. A proud member of Crappie.com, he was a fixture anywhere the fish were biting. His fishing buddies, poker friends, and "BS" partners weren’t just acquaintances; they were family. This sense of brotherhood extended to the American Legion Danville Post 118, where Ted could often be found at the poker table, surrounded by friends.

Ted was truly one of a kind—deeply passionate, fiercely loyal, and a man of immense grit who never complained. He served his country with honor and lived his life with that same quiet devotion.

Ted was preceded in death by his father, Homer Love, and his mother, Martha Love. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Love; his daughter, Brooke Love (Stacey); his brother, Robert Love (Cindy); and his sister, Barbara Stevens (Michael). He also leaves behind his cherished grandsons, Paxton and Vincent Love; four nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 4pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the American Legion Post 118 Danville, Indiana, here, following the service, the family invites friends and the community to stay for a time of gathering and shared stories until 7:00 PM.
