Susan Farmwald Begay, 61, of Pittsboro, Indiana went home to the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the comfort of her own home.
Susan was born February 20, 1959 in Goshen, Indiana to Donald and Charlene Farmwald.
Susan was an accomplished writer with an extremely high IQ and journalistic abilities. A journalism graduate from the University of Florida, she found joy in reading novels by John Grisham, making hundreds of lists over her lifetime and scrapbooking her family's memories. There are plenty that fill her closet full of pictures dating back to the '90s!
Susan was a writer for the Indianapolis Star, an avid Colts fan that would wear a blue and white wig to the games, but most importantly the best wife and mother.
One day long ago, Susan's writing abilities started her family. Susan met Darryl after sending a Christmas card for a soldier through the Dear Abby column in the paper. Darryl received the letter and continued to pen pal with Susan until they met in person and fell in love.
Susan would go to the ends of the earth for her family. She often left notes in Haley's lunchbox at school saying 'I love you bunny. Love, Momma.' She made sure to give Matthew the best and superbly decorated childhood birthday parties. She spent hours cooking wonderful meals for her children and their friends and always planted beautiful flowers and tomatoes in her garden for everyone to enjoy.
Susan was a makeshift cheerleader and supported her children through every journey they ever took and will take. She is undeniably proud of her son's accomplishment of landing a job as a Homeland Security special agent and her daughter's following in her footsteps of becoming a journalist.
An avid Christian and lover of all people, Susan devoted her free time to serving others. She loved giving back to her church and arranging Christmas gifts for children in need. One of her last quotes she gave was "You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you; not some things, all things."
A friend to all including complete strangers, Susan, her smile and warm, welcoming voice will be missed for as long as we live. She will be the first to greet us at Christ's door with her beloved chocolate chip cookie bars hot and ready.
Susan is survived by her husband, Darryl; son, Matthew; daughter, Haley; father, Don; sisters, Kendra Sanders and Janelle Herschberger; nephews, Adam Herschberger, Derek, Ryan and Drew Sanders; and niece, Holly Herschberger.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlene Farmwald and her brother, Bryan Farmwald.
In lieu of flowers, Susan requested that memorial contributions be made to Calvary United Methodist Church in Brownsburg.
