Raymond Edward Weatherford

Raymond (Ray) Weatherford, 71, of Pittsboro, Indiana, succumbed to his battle against cancer on December 4, 2019, at the comfort of his own home surrounded by family.

Born August 31, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, as one of 10 children to Cyril and Winona (Hall) Weatherford. Ray spent his life learning the crafts of skilled trades, retiring from Allison Transmission after 39 years and focusing on the family pastime of real estate investments and renovations. A kind and honest spirit, Ray loved golfing and devoted his service to the Indiana Freemasons, most recently positioned as the Worshipful Master in brotherly service of Masonic Lodge Pittsboro 620. Ray, along with wife Billie Jo, also gave time to Creekside Animal Rescue to help care for needing canines until they found their forever homes.

Ray is survived by wife Billie Jo (Porter) of 53 years; two sons Jeffery Weatherford and Jason (Ryann) Weatherford; dogs Milo, Pearl, Rosie and Paris and grand-pups Patty, Wasabi, Kiva and Mazikeen; three brothers Bud (Sherry) Weatherford, Ronnie (Becky) Weatherford, and Jim (Wanda) Weatherford; six sisters Georgia Fisher, Jan (Wally) Van Meter, Judy Kappel, Marilyn Carty, Susie Virt, and Becky (Ernie) Payton; brother-in-laws Charlie Porter and Walt Porter; sister-in-law Terry Porter; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Winona, father-in-law Loris (Bill) Porter, and grandson Colter Weatherford.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at David A. Hall Mortuary in Pittsboro, Saturday, December 7, with funeral services at 4 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Brownsburg, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to call upon the Masonic Lodge Pittsboro 620 for a gathering following graveside services.
