Perri Mikel Smith

Perri Mikel Smith, 66 of Danville, Indiana, passed away on August 22, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Perri married his high school sweetheart, Louise (Eck), on March 24, 1978, and together they have two daughters, Hollie (Matt) Passwater and Melissa (Chris) Siebenthal. They have six grandchildren, Kahlan (Patrick) Duarte, Kayli Passwater (Lee), Karissa (Calen) Fairholm, Michael Gibbs, Jr., Kaiden Passwater, and Tyler Siebenthal; and four great-grandkids, Owen and Tisen Duarte, and Haisley and Noah Fairholm.

Perri was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Ann Trent and Henry Herbert Smith. 

In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years and his beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Perri leaves behind his sisters, Penni Tincher and Tami (Mark) Fleming; and several nieces and nephews.

Perri had many talents and used them to make the world a better place. He worked 39 years at Rexnord Industries (FMC/Link Belt); 25 years as a Hunter Safety Instructor for the Department of Natural Resources; served on the TIPS (Turn in Poachers) Board; and served over 25 years as an Advanced EMT/Firefighter for Wayne Township, Washington Township, and the Danville Fire Department. He also rode with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

He loved the outdoors and hunting boars and birds, fishing, and chopping/cutting and splitting firewood. He was a Flint Knapper for the last 18 years, teaching children and adults how to make arrowheads. Perri loved to sit out by a good campfire, and he didn't know a stranger. He sought to help anyone who asked for or needed assistance.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held October 5, 2025, from 11:30 am until 5 pm at the Danville Conservation Club. All are encouraged to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to the The DNR TIP (Turn In a Poacher) program or the DNR Hunter Safety Education Program.
