In loving memory of Mitchell Sean Murphy
Mitchell Sean Murphy, 45, of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away on November 2, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family. Mitch was born April 27, 1981, in Hialeah, Florida, to Thomas and Janice (Mitchell) Murphy. He married Jennifer Stonebraker on June 18, 2005, and together they had two sons, Caden and Carter.
Mitch lived in Pittsboro with his beloved wife and children. He graduated from Avon High School in 1999 and earned a degree in Business from Marian University in 2009 before settling in Pittsboro in 2011. Throughout his career in sales and management, he worked for several companies, spending the majority of his time with Outbound Technologies and Graybar. This past summer, he also launched C&M Pressure Washing alongside his son Carter.
Mitch was known for his vibrant personality—fun-loving, direct, passionate, and as his boys would say, very stubborn. He never met a stranger and could happily talk with anyone for hours. He loved blasting his favorite music and sending TikTok memes to family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Mitch enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. In the fall, he spent many weekends at the cabin with Carter. They shared a very special love for hunting. He also enjoyed supporting and watching his boys compete in all their sporting events. He was very involved in coaching them during their younger years. Mitch spent many summers with Caden on the baseball field. He loved to watch Caden pitch. Mitch also enjoyed grilling and entertaining family at home, as well as hunting for mushrooms with his mother.
Mitch and Jennifer raised two sons who embody the very best parts of both of them. Caden and Carter were Mitch’s greatest joy, his proudest achievement, and his favorite people to spend time with.
His unexpected passing has left an emptiness in the hearts of his family and friends that words cannot fully express. Although his time with us was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will continue to live on through everyone whose life he touched, especially his children who he loved so much.
Mitch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Mary Jean Mitchell, and Thomas C. and Lucille Murphy, as well as his mother-in-law, Jody Stonebraker.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his sons, Caden Sean and Carter Mason; his parents, Thomas and Janice Murphy; his father-in-law, Billy Stonebraker; his sisters, Jeanne Elder and Kelsey (Lester) Cano; his sister-in-law, Amanda Stonebraker; his niece, Trinity Elder; his nephews, Tyler Elder, Phoenix Boyden, and Jameson Cano; along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will gather from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 7, at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Parsons of Journey Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to his boys’ 529 education funds.
