Margaret "Peggy" Gordon

February 10, 1952 — December 21, 2025

Brownsburg, Indiana

The Margaret J. "Peggy" Gordon, 73 of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away unexpectedly, December 21, 2025. The following is an obituary written by her loving family.

In Loving Memory of a True Champion of Family, Students, and Sport, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret “Peggy” Jane Gordon. A devoted partner, mother, cherished sister, and treasured aunt, Peggy’s life was defined by service, leadership, and unwavering compassion. Peggy grew up with a love of athletics. After graduating from Brownsburg High School, she attended college at Indiana Central University, attaining a degree in Education.

After college, she returned to Brownsburg High School and started her lifetime devotion to physical education and coaching her student athletes. For more than 40 years, she served as the heart of the Brownsburg Bulldogs Athletic Department, where her influence reached far beyond the gymnasium walls. She believed deeply in the power of sports to build character, discipline, and confidence. She made it her mission to ensure that every student, regardless of ability, felt seen, supported, and inspired. Under her guidance, programs flourished and she sponsored and supported the Brownsburg Athletic Ambassadors, where countless young people discovered their potential. Yet it was not the trophies that mattered most to her, it was the relationships. She knew her athletes by name, celebrated their successes in the classroom as passionately as on the field, and never hesitated to step in as a mentor, encourager, or steady presence during difficult moments.

At home, Peggy was the foundation of her family. As a partner, she was a loyal and constant source of strength for Kim. As a mother, she poured her heart into raising Eli, who reflects her kindness, integrity, and determination. As a sister and aunt, she brought laughter and games to family gatherings and offered guidance with a listening ear and an open heart. During retirement, you could find Peggy playing golf, on the Pickleball court, walking her 3 dogs, going to Colts games, and camping with Kim and friends.

Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, tireless work ethic, and her ability to make others feel important simply by being present. She led with grace, stood firm in her values, and left an indelible mark on every life she touched.

Her legacy lives on in the students who walk the halls of Brownsburg High School, in the athletes who learned to believe in themselves because she believed in them first, and in the family who will forever carry her love. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Peggy was preceded in death by James and Wanda Gordon (parents), James “Denny” Gordon (brother), and Patrick Clossey (brother-in-Law).

She is survived by Kim Woodward (partner), Eli Woodward (son) and Megan Beliles (son's fiancé), Diana Clossey (sister), Gary and Janet Gordon (brother/ sister-in-Law); nephews, Steve Clossey, Michael Gordon, JD Gordon, and Josh Gordon; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
