Laura Ann “Annie” Swain, 90, of Danville, Indiana, passed away on February 28, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 27, 1935, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Ralph and Cora Jones.
Annie was a simple, loving woman whose life was rooted in faith, family, and hard work. A devoted farmer’s wife, she understood that farm life required blood, sweat, and tears—and she gave all three without hesitation. No matter how long or difficult the day had been, there was always a warm meal waiting on the table for lunch and dinner. Caring for her family was her greatest calling.
She worked part-time in the deli at GALYAN’S in Brownsburg, Indiana, where her warm smile and friendly nature made everyone feel welcome. She also worked alongside her father at Turpin’s Hardware, cherishing the time spent together and the value of honest work.
Annie had a deep love for crafting, tending to her plants, and feeding the birds. She was affectionately known as “the plant lady,” always nurturing something—whether it was flowers in her garden or the people around her. If you visited Annie, you were sure to hear her ask, “Have you had something to eat?” Making sure everyone was fed and cared for was simply who she was.
She was a faithful member of Pittsboro Christian Church, where her quiet devotion and kind heart reflected her strong Christian faith.
Annie was the proud mother of five redheaded daughters: Sharon, Judy, Jeri, Sandy, and the late Becky Swain. She was also blessed with three grandchildren—Jacob, Bree Ann, and Sarah—along with two bonus grandchildren, David Jr. and Kyle West. She had four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Colton, Cora, and Olive, and one bonus great-grandchild, Kennedy West. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Lee Drake, and her brothers, Kenny and Chuck Jones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Swain; her daughter, Becky Swain; and her parents, Ralph and Cora Jones.
Annie will be remembered for her warmth, her generous spirit, and the simple but powerful way she loved others. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her love will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Eric MD Bell Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Annie will be laid to rest in the Lizton K of P Cemetery alongside her beloved husband, John, who passed away in March of 2006.
While a full life story for this wonderful lady is currently pending, all are encouraged to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Tri-West Dollars for Scholars.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eric MD Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hendricks County.
