Kirby Diane Gamber, of Avon, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1942, and will be remembered first and foremost as a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Fern Squire; her brother, Cecil Squire; and her beloved grandson, Tyler Gamber. Kirby is survived by her son, Todd Gamber; her daughters, Tonda (Steve) Luckey and Tamara (Clyde) Wolfe; and her cousin, Retha Myers of Brownsburg, whom she loved like a sister and spoke with nearly every day. Her cherished grandchildren include Tara (Walter) Goebel, Sydni Wolfe, Kendra (Gavin) Troyer, Lauryn (Alex) Diaz, and Maximus Wolfe. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Nathan Goebel, Abigail Goebel, and Jacob Goebel.
Kirby loved a good laugh and long conversation, often sharing both with the many incredible friends she made in her community. She enjoyed playing cards, having dinner with friends, and cheering on the Colts and the Chiefs. An avid reader, she was rarely without a book nearby. She also adored watching videos of baby elephants, which always brought her pure joy.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate teams at Eskenazi Hospital and Life’s Journey Hospice of Avon. The care and kindness shown during Kirby’s final days will never be forgotten.
A private funeral will be held at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral and Cremation Services, with interment at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Random Acts of Flowers (https://rafindy.org/), whose thoughtful gift of flowers brought Kirby great joy during a very difficult time.
Kirby’s life was guided by love and faith. She trusted in God’s promise of peace and eternal rest, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at home with Him.
