The following is an obituary written by Kevin’s loving family.
Kevin Michael Babcock, 44, passed away on November 26, 2025. Born in Camarillo, California, Kevin was from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and most recently made his home in Danville, Indiana. Kevin was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University and a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served with honor and deep commitment.
After completing his military service, he continued using his skills and passion for problem-solving as an IT Apps Programmer Lead at Progressive. He was respected for both his expertise and his leadership skills, empowering others and building trust within his teams.
Anyone who knew Kevin will remember his goofy humor, endless supply of dad jokes, and the warmth he carried into every room. His life was rooted in loyalty, compassion, and genuine connection. He prioritized people above all else—offering acceptance without conditions and always being the shoulder others could lean on.
Kevin’s hobbies reflected his creativity and love for simple joys: fishing, woodworking, playing games, and crafting his famously perfect grilled cheese sandwiches and lemon bars.
Kevin leaves behind a legacy of kindness, empathy, and steadfast love for the people he cherished and a legacy of humility, honesty, and impactful leadership for the work he created. He is survived by his sons, David and Daniel Babcock; his wife, Jeanette Hay, and her children, Lillian and James; his parents, Mike and Susie Babcock; his sister, Jana Winston, and her husband Brock; and his nieces and nephew, Cole, Izzy, and Adelyn; his brother, James Babcock; and grandfather, Paul Wottring. Each of them carries forward his light, humor, and love.
A memorial service will be held in Texas, with date and location to be determined. Updates will be shared with loved ones once arrangements are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Mighty Oaks Foundation, in honor of Kevin’s memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, Indiana. All are encouraged to keep Kevin’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss.
