Julia K. Baldauf, 76, of Pittsboro, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025. Born on April 27, 1949, in Lebanon, Indiana, she was the daughter of John D. Hubble and Norma “Gracie” Hubble. Julia was raised in Jamestown and graduated from Granville Wells High School in 1967.
On February 21, 1970, she married the love of her life, Robert Baldauf. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. Julia was the proud mother of two daughters, Hollie Goodwin (John) and Jessie Baldauf (Eric Loveland), and the devoted grandmother of Nicholas Matthews and Abigail Matthews.
Julia was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and deep love for nature. She earned her Master Gardener Certification and cultivated a beautiful forest garden at her home. She found joy in the outdoors and created spaces where both people and plants could thrive. Wherever Julia went, laughter followed—she brought joy and warmth with her wherever she went.
Throughout her life, Julia held several positions, including jobs at Mayflower, Pittsboro Liquor, Crystal Flash, and Blocks (her first job). She later worked for McMillan Publishers and Baldauf Trucking, where she served as Secretary and Treasurer (BOSS!).
Julia cherished her family above all. She loved camping, especially through the Westwood Ho Camp Club, and enjoyed countless family vacations over the years. Her home was always full of love, great food, and plenty of laughter.
A talented and enthusiastic cook, Julia collected recipes and prepared meals that brought people together. She was known to cook enough to feed an army and took great pride in making others feel welcome.
She is survived by her husband; daughters; grandchildren; brother, Rodney Hubble (Harriet); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Julia also enjoyed covered bridge festivals, craft and hobby shows, flower and patio festivals, and home shows. A true creative at heart, she poured her energy into everything she did—including completing over 100 recipe books. Dining out and trying new restaurants was another of her favorite pastimes.
Julia leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beauty. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
