John Shipley, 76 of Fortville, Indiana passed away peacefully, September 14, 2023, at Riverwalk Village, Noblesville.  The following is an obituary written by his loving family.

John D. Shipley, First Sergeant (retired), was born October 25,1946, to Eugene (Jack) Shipley and Nevada (Cates) Shipley in Elizabethton, Tennessee.  He and his mother moved to Indiana in 1951, and never left, although he was a lifetime Tennessee fan.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force at 18 and did two tours of Vietnam as a demo expert.  He spent 38 years in the Air Force, reserves, and as a civil servant.  His first priority was his family, especially his children.  He enjoyed retirement by fishing, watching NASCAR Racing, and gambling (whether it was scratch offs or slot machines).  He loved history, science, military history, comedies, mysteries, crafting, woodworking, and gardening, and most importantly spending time with his children.  He was a Mason, a Christian, and a lifetime member of the VFW.  He was the recipient of several service honors from UT Martin, the City of Indianapolis, and of medals and accommodations from his career in the military and civil service.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Regina (Beach) Shipley; daughter, Tamera R. Steward (Kent); son, John E Shipley; and daughter, Darla Baker (Anne).  There will be Military Honors rendered with a private family service.  If you wish to send condolences, please send them to 6167 North County Road 100 East, Pittsboro, Indiana 46167.

May God rest his beautiful soul.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  All are encouraged to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
