Janice Marie Leonard

Janice Marie Leonard, 83 of Danville, Indiana, peacefully passed away in her home on June 7, 2024.  Janice was born on July 23, 1940, in Indianapolis, to Charles and Mable (Mantooth) Thomas.  On June 20, 1958, she married Kenneth Leonard, a loving union that would last until his passing in 2023.  She was incredibly proud of her service to Hendricks County as a dispatcher for 38 years, but her most treasured accomplishment was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  In addition to spending precious time with her family, she enjoyed bowling and watching the hummingbirds out her kitchen window.  She was a lifelong member of New Winchester Christian Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Penny Kathleen Thomas, Lilie "Peachy" Kirton, and Charles Leon Thomas.

Janice is survived by her son, Terry (Debbie) Leonard; two grandsons, Jordan (Halsey) Leonard and Dalton (Karleigh) Leonard; her granddaughter, Bobbi (Chris) Hawkins; four great-granddaughters, Charlie Rose, Luella Grace, Clarabel May, and Parker Grace; her siblings, Fay Haltom and Dian (Mike) Love; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Don & Lydia Johnston, and Angie with Intrepid Hospice, and the NWCC family for all of their support during Janice's short battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Janice on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at New Winchester Christian Church. The Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 to 12 Noon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the family to help cover unexpected expenses that were left.
