David Sturm

February 13, 1978 — September 11, 2025

Brownsburg, Indiana

David Sturm, 47 of Brownsburg, IN, passed away unexpectedly, September 11, 2025, in Montgomery County.

The following is a eulogy written by his loving family.

We gather here today to honor and remember the life of David Sturm—a son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and a man who left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was born on February 13, 1978, to Robert and Janet Sturm. From the very beginning, he carried with him a spirit that was both bold and kindhearted. He graduated from Tri-West High School, where he began laying the foundation for the strong work ethic and independence that would define his life. Though we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in remembering the fullness of the life he lived and the love he gave so freely.
David was the kind of man who made an impression everywhere he went. He was known for his humor—quick-witted, always ready with a joke or a laugh, and never afraid to be the one to break the silence with something that would lighten the mood. He had that rare gift of making people feel better just by being around.
He was also known for his headstrong nature. David had his way of doing things, and once he set his mind to something, there was no talking him out of it. But that stubbornness wasn’t just willfulness—it was passion. It was pride in doing things right, especially in his work. David spent his life working in construction—a career that matched his strength, his work ethic, and his commitment to building something real, something lasting. He didn’t just build with his hands; he built a life of purpose, grit, and authenticity.
And then there was his Harley.
To David, riding wasn’t just a hobby—it was a part of who he was. The open road, the rumble of his 2000 Harley-Davidson beneath him, the wind in his face—this was freedom, this was peace, this was home. And though it breaks our hearts to say goodbye, we know that David passed doing what he loved most. In a way, there’s something deeply poetic about that. He left this world in the moment he felt most alive.
David is survived by his loving father, Robert Sturm, and is reunited in spirit with his beloved mother, Janet, and brother, Greg, who preceded him in passing. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Shannon Sturm, and his cherished niece, Savannah Brackett. The bond he shared with his sister was deep and enduring, and his memory will live on through the stories they tell and the love they carry forward. Savannah, his niece who admired her uncle deeply, follows in his footsteps with her shared passion for all things automotive—a legacy of dedication and love that continues through her.
To those of us left behind, David's absence is profound. He was loved by many and will be missed by even more. His laughter, his stubborn charm, his generous heart—they echo in the stories we tell and the memories we hold close.
Let us honor David not only by mourning his loss but by celebrating the way he lived: full throttle, with love in his heart, dirt on his hands, and the road ahead wide open.

A Celebration of Life will be held in David’s honor on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
