David Coll

June 27, 1944 — November 30, 2025

Lizton, Indiana

The following is an obituary written by Mr. David Coll’s loving family.

David L. Coll, born June 27, 1944, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. A resident of Lizton, Indiana.

On June 25, 1966, Dave married Margaret Welch, beginning a lifelong partnership with shared devotion to their family.

Dave worked for many years as a machinist, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic, precision, and dedication.

In his younger days, Dave enjoyed showing horses, coaching little league baseball, hunting, and fishing (making homemade dough balls at 5am for the trip), but the last several years of his life, he mostly spent his time trap shooting. While he enjoyed his own hobbies, his true love and passion was behind the lens, capturing memories of his children and grandchildren while attending countless football, basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball games, track meets, soccer matches and rodeos. You could always spot Dave on the sidelines during football season while his son Chris was coaching so he could take close photos of his grandsons. His pride in each one of his children and grandchildren was immeasurable.

Dave rarely missed the opportunity to attend school programs, plays or Grandparents Day to enjoy a plate of cookies with his grandchildren. His granddaughters often asked for a stick of gum from his shirt pocket with goodbye hugs.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his children, Christopher David Coll (Deena) and Amanda Michelle Davis (Chris); his grandchildren, Cody Coll (Tara), Casey Coll (Megan), Clayton Coll (Ali), Micaela Moore (fiancé Colin Zeh), Riley Moore, Campbell Moore, and Emerson Moore; and his great-grandson, Cooper David Coll, brother Vernon Perdew(Lila), sisters Gayle Goff (Steve) and Roberta Keeton.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Michael Coll; his parents, Vernon (Pete) and Lorraine Perdew; and his sister, Connie Pierce.

The family would like to thank the staff at Compass Park and Luminary Hospice for providing excellent care and comfort.

Dave will be remembered for his ability to chit chat with anyone who listens, the countless stories he shared, his quick wit and a knack for playful sarcasm. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the moments he captured, and the many lives he touched.
