Carolyn Baliuag Ventura, a devoted mother, loving sister, dear aunt and colleague, and a resident of Skokie, Illinois, was reunited with God on October 5, 2021 at the age of 59. She endured a good and long fight after surviving a major stroke in 2019.
Carolyn, sometimes called “Ro” or “Lyn” by her family and friends, is survived by her children, Stephanie and Andrew Scott (son-in-law) and James and Chelsea Roman (daughter-in-law); her grandchildren, Ali and Noah Scott and Luca Roman; as well as her siblings, cousins, nephews, and nieces from both the U.S. and the Philippines. She is predeceased by her daughter, Regina; a number of her siblings, Tony Ventura, Armando Ventura, Michael Ventura, Dolores Evelynda J. Javier, and Jose Rene B. Jimenea; and her parents, Lourdes Estrella Baliuag and Modesto Ventura.
Carolyn was born in the Philippines on October 27, 1961. She was one of the youngest of 18 siblings and spent a good number of years back home before moving to Skokie, Illinois with the rest of her family. She studied in St. Theresa’s College in Manila and Maryridge Good Sheperd in Tagaytay City. In the U.S., she worked for Jared Galleria of Jewelry for more than two decades, sharing her passion for jewelry and sales, as well as building lasting friendships with her colleagues and clients.
Her hard work, perseverance, and dedication, as well as her sense of adventure and love for food and life were surely passed on to her three beautiful children, Stephanie, James, and Ina. Over the years, they travelled together to different parts of the world, frequenting Europe, Hawaii, and different islands in the Philippines. They enjoyed culture, food, meeting new people, and in one instance, even skydiving! She also made it a point to go on trips to visit her family from other parts of the U.S. with her nephews and nieces, making her a favorite and well-loved aunt.
She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Friends and family will gather at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church (10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN 46033) on Monday, October 11, 2021 for visitation from 5 pm until 7 pm, and then on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 9:30 am, followed by a 10:30 am Mass.
