Carole N. Olds Ryan

January 13, 1942 — March 4, 2026

Carole N. Olds Ryan was born at Coleman Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. After graduating from Speedway High School in 1960, she was a layout artist for multiple newspapers, including the Indianapolis Star and one in Orange County, CA.

She was a graduate of The Law Enforcement Academy, where she earned her proudest achievement, an expert marksman’s honor. She went to become the youngest matron for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and later an officer with the Noblesville and Speedway Police Departments. Carole also worked at the RCA plant in Indianapolis, a security guard for the RCA Dome and Lane Bryant.

Carole loved using her talents in decorating, gardening and art. She loved Marilyn Monroe, telling jokes, old movies, especially “Tombstone”, which she claimed to have seen 124 times.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Winifred “Winnie” Wall Olds; father, Sylvester “Henry” Olds; brother, Everett Olds; and her daughter, Jennifer Jane Nelson.

Living family members include her beloved twin sister, Jane Olds (Bill) Burgan; sons, Harrell (Patricia) and Christopher (Jennifer) Ryan; and six grandchildren, Chris and Cody Ryan, Angela Nelson Kamman, Amanda “Mandy” Norris, Daniel Tatum, and Jakub Resler. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and eight great-grandchildren.

Carole chose to donate her body to the IU Medical Anatomical Education Program. A gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hendricks County.  All are encouraged to keep Carole's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss.
