Brian Keith Shelton

Brian Keith Shelton, 58 of Roachdale, Indiana passed away unexpectedly, April 23, 2020.  Brian grew up in North Salem, IN with his parents Ed and Deloris and his brother Brad.  Brian Shelton was loved by all who met him. Whether it was his sense of humor, his giving nature, or his love of teaching and knowledge, everyone who met him was a better person having known him. He never knew a stranger and has more friends than you could count.

Brian accomplished his dream career as a farmer, after working several years with local families to get his start. He and his wife, Kim, built Shelton Farms from the ground up. Starting out with just two 806 International Harvester tractors, a few acres, and a dream, he grew the farm to exponential success with his wife Kim at his side. He also worked 20 years for Pioneer Seed, selling to local farmers and friends and advising them of their crop needs. This led him to become a Certified Crop Advisor to further help out his fellow farmers.

Brian and Kim were married August 6, 1988 in North Salem. They were the love of each other’s lives and it was apparent to all who knew them. They traveled to several different states and countries together, seeing the sights and exploring. They have two children, Alex (27) and Kyle (21).

Brian’s children have several good memories of him working in the barn, selling Girl Scout cookies, and participating in Cub Scouts and the North Putnam Swim and Dive Team. Days spent out in the barn working with Dad were hard-working days, but they are memories we will cherish forever.

During the off-season of farming, Brian enjoyed playing Euchre with his closest friends and remodeling antique tractors. He will be loved and missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem, Indiana at 11 am.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, guests will be invited to process by and visit while remaining in their vehicles after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the National Cattleman’s Beef Association and the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of funeral director, Eric MD Bell, of Pittsboro, Indiana.  All are encouraged to keep Brian’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
