Brian Eugene Sellers

October 11, 1960 — August 27, 2025

North Salem, Indiana

Brian Eugene Sellers, age 64, of North Salem, Indiana, passed peacefully on August 27, 2025, surrounded by those he loved.

He was born on October 11, 1960, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Wilbur and Martha Whiles Sellers, who still reside on their farm where they raised Brian and his siblings, Lisa, Brent, and Missy.

Brian married Melanie Fleece Sellers, August 20, 1988, in Northview Christian Church in Danville, Indiana. The little sister of his childhood friend, their marriage only deepened and strengthened the bond between their families. Their shared history and lifelong connection created a foundation of love, loyalty, and laughter that carried through the years.

He graduated in the class of 1979 from Tri-West High School, where he enjoyed the company of his many friends participating in sports.

Brian also attended Indiana State University and graduated in 1983 with a degree in Construction Technology.

After graduating, Brian worked at Reynolds and Reynolds in Lebanon and then secured a position at Steel Dynamics in Pittsboro in 2006. He also farmed, raising corn, soybeans, hay, and cattle.

Spanky, Spank, or Happy, as he was known to his friends, was a man of few words. He appeared quiet and reserved, but if you were among the lucky ones who got to hear more than those few words, you realized how slyly funny he could be.

Brian was a man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He could often be found on the golf course, mushroom hunting in the woods, cooking on the grill, or relaxing on the annual spring break trips to the Florida Gulf Coast with family and friends. He loved watching sports of every kind, especially his beloved Hoosiers. But even more, he loved being involved—coaching and mentoring his son and his friends in baseball, basketball, and football. His steady guidance and encouragement left a lasting impression on countless kids through the years.

He also achieved great pleasure in supporting his children, Brock and Kari, in all their endeavors, helping with their beef 4-H projects and working alongside them when they showed their cross-bred beef, a longstanding tradition for both the Sellers and Fleece families.

Remembered as a devoted husband, father, sibling, and friend, his legacy will live on in the lessons he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the love of family that was always his greatest pride.

Brian leaves behind many family and friends who will deeply miss his presence, including his devoted wife, Melanie Fleece Sellers, and their children, Brock Sellers & fiancé Betsy Whitfield, Kari (Sellers) Hession & Matthew Hession; parents, Wilbur and Martha Whiles Sellers; siblings, Lisa Sellers and Wendy Walters, Brent & Julie Sellers and their children Jordan Sellers and April Sellers, Roger & Missy Call, and their children Ben & Eileen Call and Nick & Megan Call; in-laws, Charles R and Mary Ann Fleece, Chuck Fleece and Trish Harley, Jeff and Brenda Fleece, Brad Fleece; nieces and nephews, Brandee Wornhoff, Brooke Canada & Josh Gordon, Dustin & Kattie Fleece, Brayden & Emilee Fleece, Drew & Diane Fleece, Kristi & Jason Spratt, Ryan & Jackie Fleece, Chase & Rachel Fleece; and many, many great-nieces & nephews.

Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Helen Sellers and Kenneth and Lucille Whiles.

Friends and family will gather for visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home, from 12 pm to 3 pm, with the service celebrating Brian's life beginning at 3 pm. Brian will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in North Salem, Indiana, following the service.
