Anne Bakos

Anne Marie (“Puggy”) Bakos, 83, of Danville, passed away on February 25, 2026, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. She was born on June 25, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Lawrence and Marguerite (Paal) Knutson.

Anne was a 1960 graduate of Lapeer West High School. She then attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University in 1965, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Art and English. She completed her Master’s degree at Oakland University.

Anne was the daughter of two educators, and became a teacher herself, teaching special education in Waterford School District for nearly 30 years. During her career she worked with all grade levels, as well as in their day treatment program.

Following her retirement in 1997, she lived much of the time in Peoria, Arizona, and was an active member of Grace Church. Anne was known for her sharp insights, friendly conversation, and trained eye for décor.

Anne is survived by her son, Jon (Virginia) Bakos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marguerite Knutson.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Woodland Terrace of Danville, at 2pm.
